English Ministry of Inland Church

Shepherd’s Corner – October 7, 2018

The city of Palu on the island of Sulawesi, island of the country of
Indonesia, is in need of much prayer and support.  As you know a 7.5
magnitude earthquake and the subsequent tsunami has left the region in
shambles and so far over 1500 people dead.  In addition to that, on
the northern part of the island, the Soputan volcano erupted last
Tuesday.  Please pray for those suffering, those who lost loved ones,
and for the Christians in the area to mobilize as Christ’s hands and
feet.  Missionary Matthew is on the same island of Sulawesi, but is
550 miles away. And he is 35 miles away from the Soputan volcano.
Volcanic activity is common in Indonesia (like in Hawaii); the region
is known as the ring of fire.  However, the volcanic ash can make
breathing difficult and the triple punch of earthquake, tsunami,
volcano eruption can probably freak people out.  Please pray that
Missionary Matthew will have the wisdom to care for the people around
him well with Christ’s comfort and gospel hope.  Next week, we will be
collecting a special offering to help with the earthquake relief.  We
will be sending the funds to Food for the Hungry, a Christian
organization that fights poverty and while doing so also does child
sponsorship.  If you would like to read more on the organization go to
their website: https://www.fh.org/indo/

in Him,
Rev. Daevid Yoon
