Today I want to speak about the congregational prayer in our order of worship. This is a time where a leader of the church leads the congregation in a prayer for the church, both local and universal. This is where it draws our attention towards the needs of our congregation specifically and the needs of the overall church and universal church (e.g. KM leaders, missionaries, international events). It is an opportunity for us as a whole to admit that He is God and that we are not, and that without Him we cannot deal with these matters. Ultimately it is a congregational posture of adoration and supplication. And so it is an opportunity for us and the person leading the prayer to confess our love for the Lord and our wish for His will to be done in His church. So during the congregational prayer let us close our eyes, bow our heads, and gather our hearts together as our prayerful worship to Him.
