English Ministry of Inland Church

Shepherd’s Corner – October 23, 2016

Finally, last but not least, today we come to the benediction in our discussion of the order of our worship. This is not just an official way to end the worship service, but it is an opportunity for the pastor, ordained by a denomination or ruling body of the church, to bless the people of God as they go out back into the world as God’s salt and light. Typically there are about 5 benedictions from the scriptures that are used. I normally rotate between two: 2 Corinthians 13:14 and Numbers 6:24-26. The idea is that this is a dismissal with the Lord’s blessings to go out back into the world and be His ambassadors to be a blessing to others. And as much grace and blessing has been given to us, let us bestow grace and blessing to the world as God’s people. That is how we are dismissed, not just to go to lunch fellowship but to represent Christ to the world.

in Him,
Rev. Daevid Yoon
