Shepherd’s Corner – April 22, 2018

Today is Earth day.  This is typically not known as a day associated
with Christians.  But how about we consider redefining cultural
practice around us (turning postmodern deconstructionism [Derrida] on
its head) and consider Earth day to be a celebration of God’s
creation!  That we acknowledge and thank God for the beautiful Earth
He had created, and actually further acknowledge that we are
biblically called to take good care of God’s creation too.  So rather
than Mother Earth, we celebrate Father God for his marvelous creation
and submit to his call to “fill the earth and subdue it” (Gen 1:28).
Subdue as not only to dominate, but to care for as well.  So let’s
conserve and recycle, and rejoice that “this is the day that the Lord
has made and let us rejoice and be glad in it!” (Ps 118:24).  For
further reading on “subduing the earth” I recommend this article:

in Him,
