Shepherd’s Corner – April 1, 2018

Last month on March 16, the New York Times ran a story titled
“Romanian Court Rejects Man’s Claim That He’s Alive”.  It was about a
63 year old Romanian man, Constantin Reliu, who was declared dead by
his family when he left the country in the 90’s.  He had since
returned and proved that he was alive to the courts by showing up, but
the court ruled that the period to overturn the declaration of death
had expired so rejected his appeal. In spite of a clear eye witness
account, the courts denied he was alive because of a legal
technicality. Did you know that after Jesus rose from the dead there
were over 500 eye witnesses (1 Cor 15:6)?  And yet people still don’t
believe.  Of course, we don’t want to be simplistic, it boggles the
mind that someone can be raised from the dead.  So that’s why this is
the power of God demonstrated.  But usually in the court of law, an
eye-witness account is given a lot of merit, and Paul tells us there
were over 500 of them.  Let us rejoice that Christ is risen!  Because
that means we have hope.  Hope that our sins are forgiven; hope of
eternal life; hope that our faith is legitimate (1 Cor 15:12-19).
Happy Resurrection Sunday!

in Him,
Rev. Daevid Yoon
