“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.” (1 Tim 2:1-3) You’ll note at the end of v2 that one of the purposes of praying for our authorities is for us to lead lives that are “peaceful…, godly and dignified”. So that is why we particularly need to be vigilant during this time of our country as the opposite extreme of political correctness seems to be leading to non-filtered speech of racism and hatred. Let us be prayerful in our actions and speech as we live in the world daily as His salt and light. And let us pursue godliness and dignity as we stand up against hatred and bigotry. This is gospel grace practiced and lived out, and this is my prayer for our congregation: to know the gospel & live the gospel.
