Shepherd’s Corner – January 1, 2017

With all its glitz and flash, the irony of newness is that though
people get excited for new things, it also comes with a lot of
uncertainty.  So we ought to think twice about always slipping into
the “new is better” mantra.  But, because we believe in a God that is
sovereign, we can rejoice in newness because we know that amidst
uncertainty on our part, God is in control.  So for this 2017 year,
let’s celebrate the new year; but rejoice in the fact that our God’s
sovereign grace will sustain us and carry us through whatever this new
year may bring.  I pray that it will be full of joy and blessings,
(not happiness and well-being) because whether we are struggling or
sad, we know that the joy of the Lord is in the midst of the sadness
and that struggles are a blessing that refines us (James 1:2-4).

in Him,
Rev. Daevid Yoon
