English Ministry of Inland Church

Shepherd’s Corner – February 3, 2019

Today is Super Bowl LIII (or 53 for us modern folk). Did you know that means this is Tom Brady’s 9th time playing in the Super Bowl? He has appeared in more Super Bowls than any NFL team today (except his own team the Patriots). Those are some impressive numbers. But I bet after the 5th or 7th time it’s almost like “oh, there he is again.” Not only does he seem like a fixture in the Super Bowl event, it’s almost blase. And that’s a point I want to make. Greatness can get clouded by repetitiveness. But ironically you can’t be considered great unless there’s several repeats. And my ultimate point and question is, has the greatness of Christ’s Gospel become clouded by its repetitiveness? It’s preached and taught by our church every week. It comforts you in your moments of sin/guilt and doubt/pain. My hope is that the greatneess of the gospel will not be ironically clouded by it repetition. Because by it’s repetition, we have comfort and life! in Him, Daevid Yoon
