God is a promise keeper. God had promised a savior, the Messiah, and in His time, Jesus was born. The long awaited savior was born in Bethlehem just as it was prophesied. However, it wasn’t when, what, or how the people had expected. Israelites expected a political savior; and they probably expected it during their exile or even much earlier; and of course they would never had expected this Messiah to be of such humble and lowly beginnings. We are reminded once again that the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men (1 Cor 1:25). And we know that God’s promise has always been fulfilled, perfectly. Not when or how or what we expect, but perfectly according to His plan and timing. So then we look to faith to God’s promise once again, that Christ is coming back. It may not be when or how or what we expect or even hope for, but one thing’s for sure: God is a promise keeper.
